Foothills Mall will undergo a stunning transformation this spring, as the outward-facing corner store becomes the site of the innovative art exhibit “With The Brush She Speaks.” From March 6 to April 30, the exhibit will showcase the work of eight female artists, amplifying their voices and visions.
The featured artists are Tierra Lalk, Cherokee Carr, Elida Ramos, Louise Cutler, Deborah Shedrick, Malissa Pape, Adderley Grant Lord, and Jasmine Henley.
Curated by Louise Cutler, the exhibition reimagines the traditional gallery experience by turning vacant retail spaces into dynamic venues for fine art. Each piece will be displayed in storefront windows, allowing viewers to engage with the art from the outside—symbolizing the historical barriers women have faced in the art world.
Exhibition Highlights:
- Innovative Display: Artworks will be shown in vacant store windows, offering passersby the chance to experience the art from the outside. This unique presentation reflects the challenges women have historically faced in gaining access to the art world, prompting reflection and dialogue.
- Community Engagement: The “Artist Inside Out” reception invites attendees to connect with the creative process and deepen their relationship with the artists.
- Live Performances: Enjoy live music and watch artists create new works on the spot, blending various art forms to enhance Fort Collins’ cultural landscape.
Curator Louise Cutler’s vision celebrates women’s artistic achievements by transforming urban spaces into galleries that engage the community. This approach not only repurposes vacant spaces but also challenges traditional ideas of where and how art should be experienced.
