Platte River Names New Chief Generation and Transmission Officer

Travis Hunter joins wholesale utility’s senior leadership team

Platte River Power Authority (Platte River) recently appointed Travis Hunter to chief generation and transmission officer following an internal restructuring process. The new position addresses leadership needs as Platte River continues to make progress on its energy transition goals.

“I have worked with Travis for 26 years and have watched his dedication and commitment to Platte River continue to grow. I am pleased to welcome him to our senior leadership team,” says Jason Frisbie, general manager and CEO of Platte River. “Travis brings extensive knowledge of generation and transmission operations and the unique challenges we face as we transition our resource portfolio.”

Travis joined Platte River in 1998 as a maintenance technician. He held various positions in maintenance, instrumentation and electrical services and power production management before becoming director of power generation in 2021. As chief generation and transmission officer, Travis oversees Platte River’s existing generation and transmission assets, telecommunications and fiber, system engineering, facilities and power system operations.

“Safe and reliable public power is a public health and safety service, and I am dedicated to providing operations and services that continue to have a direct, positive impact in our communities,” Hunter says. “I look forward to working with Platter River’s senior leadership team and board of directors as we transition to a new energy future.”

Travis is dedicated to managing a system that delivers responsible, safe and reliable power to Platte River’s owner communities, and continuing efforts to build regional partnerships and collaborate across the industry. He is a passionate advocate for supporting all employees during Platte River’s transition to a noncarbon energy future.
