First Interstate Bank Grants $8,000 to Help Cancer Patients Regain a Healthy Life

When First Interstate Bank’s Regional President, Bryan Guest, learned about the University of Northern Colorado Cancer Rehabilitation Institute (UNCCRI), the mission resonated deeply with him. A close family member undergoing cancer treatment was finding it challenging to manage even simple tasks, like climbing a flight of stairs. Recognizing the essential role of UNCCRI, Bryan felt compelled to help by supporting Frank Gale Faith Not Fear (FGFNF), a nonprofit dedicated to funding UNCCRI and its work to improve cancer patients’ quality of life. While the University of Northern Colorado generously provides the facility, UNCCRI’s operating budget must be raised in full each year. Currently, 126 cancer patients are waiting to begin their treatment at UNCCRI.

Cancer patients often face severe treatment-related side effects, including overwhelming fatigue, loss of muscle strength, and a decline in quality of life. UNCCRI offers a unique lifeline: individualized, supervised exercise-based programs designed specifically for cancer recovery. Since 1996, UNCCRI has been a source of hope for patients at all stages of treatment, showing that exercise is not only beneficial for the general population but also critical in cancer recovery and prevention.

With First Interstate Bank’s generous $8,000 donation to FGFNF, UNCCRI will be able to reduce its waitlist, allowing more patients to start their journey to improved health. The donation honors the legacy of Frank Gale, whose motto “Faith Not Fear” inspires hope and strength for those undergoing treatment. Both FGFNF and UNCCRI are profoundly grateful for this meaningful support.
