1,600+ miles were walked in Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies’ 19th Annual Joint Surgery Walk
More than 500 participants logged over 1,600 miles during the 19th Annual Total Joint Surgery Walk hosted by Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies (OCR). Held throughout the entire month of September, the event celebrates the accomplishments of all patients who have had joint surgery and are back to moving like they used to. OCR invited patients to join virtually so that any patient across the U.S. could participate. This year’s event marked OCR’s fifth year hosting the event virtually for all patients, current and past, with free registration.
“The Total Joint Surgery Walk is a testament to the incredible resilience of our patients, who have not only overcome physical challenges but have also redefined their own journeys toward well-being. Their unwavering determination and commitment to ‘Your Well-Being, Your Way’ align perfectly with OCR’s mission, inspiring us all,” says Wayne Fraleigh, OCR’s new CEO.
For convenient tracking, OCR utilized the free Strava Fitness Tracker App for mobile devices. Participants joined the OCR 2024 Walk Club to record their activity in the app alongside fellow movers and cheer each other on. Current and past patients turned to comment on social media and Strava to share their excitement, gratitude and inspiration post-recovery.
“Thanks again for sponsoring this activity! I still remember the virtual walk in 2020. It was just a year after my hip replacement,” stated Sandra M., a veteran participant in OCR Joint Walks since 2020. “I believe that was the year we had a large forest fire near us and Covid gathering steam. It was wonderful to have this positive way to use our time – that has CONTINUED!”
Another OCR patient and participant, Cheri B., expressed her gratitude for the community and support of OCR’s annual Joint Walk post-surgery by saying, “THANK YOU for making this possible for all of us! Having our mobility returned is such a gift, and everyone at OCR gave that to us. I will never be able to express enough appreciation for you!”
