The City of Greeley Culture, Parks and Recreation Department welcomes your participation in several vibrant community events dedicated to remembering loved ones who have passed. From the Union Colony Civic Center and Tointon Gallery to the Rodarte Community Center and Greeley Creative District celebrations, there’s something for everyone to attend.
Sugar Skull! A Día de Muertos Musical Adventure at the Union Colony Civic Center

Sugar Skull is coming back to the UCCC. This Día de Muertos Musical Adventure is a touring bilingual/bicultural musical for young audiences and families that uses traditional regional music and dance from Mexico to tell the story of 12-year-old Vita Flores. Vita thinks her family has gone loco planning a celebration for deceased loved ones. Why throw a party for the dead? But when a spirited candy skeleton suddenly springs to life, Vita finds herself on a magical, musical journey to unravel the true meaning of Día de los Muertos. For a limited time, audiences can purchase tickets for 50 percent off. No code is necessary; the website’s ticket price already reflects the discount.

Stop by the LINC Library, 501 8th Ave., from 3-5 p.m. for printmaking, face painting, Nicho art and a community ofrenda. Then join a procession from the LINC to the Tointon Gallery at 651 10th Ave. for an artist’s reception from 4-6 p.m. A celebration in the plaza at Lincoln Park will go from 5-7 p.m. with food, T-shirts, vendors, family activities, demonstrations and entertainment.

This fine art exhibition features a sampling of local artists tied to Día de los Muertos by their heritage. The artists in this show have each been influenced by the traditions, colors, festivities, ceremonies, metaphors and symbols involved in this unique holiday. It is free and open to the public.
Rodarte Community Center’s Día de los Muertos Community Event

Honor and remember loved ones who have passed by singing, dancing and enjoying traditional food, alter displays, sugar skull decorating and more. This event is free for all ages.
