Daniela Ortiz has been dedicated to fundraising through her charity bake sale in Loveland for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. Last year, NOCO Style had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Daniela and her mom, Jill, and they were featured in our September 2023 Something Good in the Neighborhood article, which you can read here. Below is a letter from Daniela, sharing more of her story and how you can get involved this year to help her reach her new long-term goal!
Galaxy Cookies Supporters,
Let’s make year 9 the best one yet! We have been through so much together: elementary school, COVID, and now, high school! In September 2024 I will host my 9th annual charity bake sale and with just two years to go I’m asking all of you to spread the news. The more awareness we can bring to pediatric cancer research, the better.
To those new to my charity bake sale for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, I’m Daniela Ortiz a junior in high school and a future NASA Engineer. When I started my bake sale in 3rd grade, I didn’t have a “true” reason to fundraise other than my desire to do a lemonade stand. I found my true reason for fundraising five years ago when my mother was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Going through cancer as a family has put into perspective how hard it must be to have a child who has cancer. It is now my mission to fundraise for these kids.
Thanks to your generosity, I surpassed my long-term goal of $100,000! In my last two years of high school, I hope to achieve my new long-term goal of $150,000 with every penny going to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer to fund pediatric cancer research.
