Third Facility Will Add Critical Capacity to Care for Homeless Pets
In an effort to save more lives and expand its impact, NOCO Humane is proud to announce its plans for the NOCO Humane Greeley Adoption Campus. The campus will provide a welcoming space for potential adopters to meet homeless pets while helping the shelter increase its overall capacity to care for and rehome animals.
Located near the corner of 65th Avenue and U.S. 34 in Greeley, the adoption campus will be a smaller, more intimate facility designed to make the adoption process as smooth and efficient as possible. The newly renovated facility will focus on housing adoptable animals and providing one-on-one interactions with prospective families. It will feature 30 kennels for dogs, 60 enclosures for cats, a space to house small mammals and several dedicated meet-and-greet areas.
“We are looking forward to opening this new space to the public,” says Judy Calhoun, NOCO Humane CEO. “With the growing number of animals coming into our shelters, the Greeley Adoption Campus is going to be critical in providing the space we need to better care for pets in Weld County.”
The opening of the adoption campus comes as part of a larger initiative to expand NOCO Humane’s capacity to serve the community. Since taking on the sheltering and care of animals in Weld County last October, NOCO Humane has seen a 57 percent increase in the number of animals coming through its shelter doors. By relieving pressure on its Weld Campus, located in Evans, the new Greeley Adoption Campus will enable more animals to be rescued and placed into permanent homes.
Adoption services will still be available at both the Larimer and Weld campuses.
“This third facility will not take the place of the brand new shelter we envision for Weld County, but it will help us bridge the gap,” Calhoun says. “The pets and people of Weld County deserve a first-rate shelter with comprehensive animal welfare services, and we intend to do everything in our power to make that a reality. The Greeley Adoption Campus is an important step in the right direction.”
The campus is currently under renovation and will open to the public in 2025.
“We are deeply grateful for the support of our donors, volunteers and community members who make ventures like this possible,” Calhoun says. “If you’d like to join us in making an impact for homeless pets in Northern Colorado, please donate.”
