When individuals downsize their home or pass away, their cherished possessions should continue to be appreciated and create meaning. Too often, however, these special items are sold or auctioned without proper care and consideration.
To help solve this dilemma, “Finding a Home for Your Treasures” will be presented from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures in Fort Collins. Jeff Boulter, who helped settle the estate of John Roberts and many relatives, will address the safekeeping of meaningful belongings, antiques and heirlooms.
“Many people have treasured collectibles and valuable art they have accumulated in a lifetime of adventure and travel,” Boulter says. “Yet family and friends may have little interest in these items. So what can you do?”
Boulter will offer tips and provide a packet of information about estate planning. He will also explain how donating valuable art and keepsakes to the Global Village Museum can be a perfect solution.
“The Museum will work with you to identify high-value items that can be properly evaluated, appropriately priced and then rehomed,” he says. “Or you can gift these items to the museum in your will, which also eases the estate burdens for your children. Either way, your donation will make a difference for the nonprofit museum, and your prized possessions can continue their journey of meaning for others.”
Admission to the presentation is $5 per person, and reservations are requested at globalvillagemuseum.org. Refreshments will be served, and registration includes admission to the museum’s four galleries.
