The City of Greeley received a Front Range Waste Diversion grant to conduct a waste characterization and diversion study. Waste characterization examines waste types such as paper, food and plastics that wind up in landfills. Waste diversion evaluates options to reduce the amount of waste in landfills through reducing, reusing and recycling.
The city understands the importance of sustainability and plans to use the study results and resident feedback to help city council review policy options around waste diversion. Greeley’s current waste diversion methods are curbside pick-up through private trash providers and drop-off recycling through community partnerships with Andersen’s Sales & Salvage, Inc., Shaefer Enterprises, Inc. and Crabtree Brewing, Co.
