In June, a new restaurant brought modern American pub fare to downtown Greeley. With a welcoming sidewalk patio outside the historic blue brick building, the pub invites you in for a craft cocktail and hearty comfort food. It’s called The Centennial Public House, and it’s now open for lunch in addition to dinner.
The pub is owned by Centennial Hospitality Group, which is known for dishing out tasty bites at Wing Shack, Luna’s Tacos & Tequila and Sexy Sammies. The Centennial Public House brings a new vibe to the downtown Greeley food scene, says president Brian Seifried, one that combines a cozy pub atmosphere with handcrafted cocktails and elevated handhelds, entrees, soups, salads and desserts that have you craving one of everything.
Notable flavors on the new lunch menu include housemade pastrami and smoked wings, plus traditional pub favorites like fish and chips, juicy burgers and slices of cherry and chess pie. Pierogies with polish kraut, sour cream, caramelized onions and shallots also top the list, along with roasted garlic cheese curds and the kielbasa plate dressed with polidori kielbasa, polish kraut, mustard and horseradish. If you can’t decide on one dish, order the lunch special for your choice of a half sandwich (pastrami or BLT) with soup or a half salad (spinach and bacon or beet salad).
“We cure and smoke our pastrami, and our wings are also smoked in-house,” Seifried says. “The wings are really delicious; they’re sort of a throwback to Wing Shack. You can get them with a crispy dry rub or honey adobo.”
Sip on a Downtown Mule made with ginger beer, lime and 477 Distilling bourbon from just around the corner, or indulge in a NoCo Cosmo with Grey Goose strawberry lemongrass vodka, strawberry puree, basil simple syrup and cranberry and lemon juice. The pub has eight signature cocktails to choose from, plus a full bar with nine beers on tap and 10 wine options. The bar is the perfect place to sit with friends, watch a football game or read a book from the library behind the counter.
The Centennial Public House is located at 819 9th St. in downtown Greeley. It’s open from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sundays. The pub is closed on Mondays. See the lunch menu here.
