Women’s Soccer Team Coming to Northern Colorado
Future Legends is thrilled to announce the complex will be the future home to a new USL W League soccer team starting in 2024. It will be the first official high-level women’s soccer team in the region.
“We are incredibly excited to bring women’s soccer to Northern Colorado and Future Legends,” says Casey Katofsky, Executive Director of Operations. “We have been looking forward to this announcement for a while knowing the incredible impact this will have not only on the community but also the sport of soccer.”
The USL W League currently has 65 teams competing across four conferences and 10 divisions nationwide, with a handful of 2024 expansion sides already announced. W League Northern Colorado’s participation in the 2024 W League season is contingent on the formation of a new division, which will feature at least five new teams in the Mountain region.
The team’s inaugural season will be played in TicketSmarter Stadium at Future Legends Complex. The stadium is also the future home of Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC of USL League One and the Northern Colorado Owlz of the Pioneer Baseball League. The Future Legends ownership group plans to release the team name, branding, head coach, and tryout information this fall.
“The ability to showcase incredible talent to young women around this area was one of the main reasons and motivations to build this facility in the first place,” says Katofsky. “We look forward to the team putting a great performance on the field, and an even better performance off the field.” Continue to follow Future Legends, Hailstorm FC, and the USL W League on social media for more updates.
