Honoring and Educating Veterans During Suicide Prevention Week

Blue Federal Credit Union Partners with Healing Warriors Program and The Fort Collins Lions Club to Honor and Educate Veterans During Suicide Prevention Week

A Free Pancake Breakfast provided by the Fort Collins Lions Club is coming to the Drake Centre from 8:30 to 11:30 on Saturday, September 10th. Sponsored by Blue Federal Credit Union, all Veterans and caregivers are invited to attend. Information will be on hand about the Healing Warriors Program and their dedication to suicide prevention through free integrative, non-narcotic treatments available for Veterans, their spouses/partners, and parents during National Suicide Prevention Awareness week.

“Blue’s history is firmly connected to the military. From their founding on Warren AFB, to their support of military members stationed around the world, it was really no surprise they immediately came forward to be a part of this event” says Janet Hatfield, Development Manager for Healing Warriors Program.

There are 377,000 veterans in the state of Colorado alone, many of whom require services and care. The National suicide rate amongst our Veteran community is 24.8% per 100,000 personnel – and it’s not getting better.

“Since 1951, Blue’s growth and legacy have been tied together with the military,” says Chandler Elmore, Community Development Lead with Blue Federal Credit Union. “This breakfast is a great community event that shows the veteran community that they matter and that we are there for them.”
