The Museum of Art | Fort Collins has plenty of masks behind its doors closed due to Covid-19. To be exact, 220 community art masks are sheltering in place until it’s safe to open MoA to the public. While MoA’s doors are closed, the public can see the Masks Exhibition through a
virtual tour here: https://rem.ax/2KV1NEk as well as online via Facebook and Instagram (@moafortcollins).
This is the 16th year of the Masks Exhibition and Benefit. The annual exhibition is a crowd favorite that over the years has raised more than $1.6 million dollars to support the museum’s mission. During that time, Masks artists, most of whom live in Northern Colorado, have designed and donated over 2,750 masks.
This is the last month to bid on the annual Masks auction which closes June 28th! You can register, bid on and see all Masks at https://app.bidcoz.com/moafc/masks.
MoA plans to open mid-June for on-site viewing of the Masks exhibition and will use a system of a limited number of reservations along with a mandatory masks policy to maintain the highest standards of public health.
Masks artists, exhibition title sponsors: DaVinci Sign Systems and the Eye Center of Northern Colorado, and long-time sponsors such as ReMax Advanced, The Youth Clinic and Blue Federal Credit Union, donors, mask collectors and visitors to the exhibition have supported the museum’s mission through this vibrant community art event.
“Our mission,” said Lisa Hatchadoorian, MoA executive director, “is to spread the power of visual arts. What better way than with an exhibition like Masks, which is still growing in popularity 16 years later and highlights the extraordinary diverse creativity of our community. People love seeing the variety of the masks designed and donated by professional artists, who make their living through art, and those community artists who want to take a walk on the creative side of life.”
The museum also is hosting digital art events, among other things, a weekly online art class, MoA Art Snack for Kids, and an online Artist2Artist Masks that is now available on our website (moafc.org).
