When Harmony Club resident Jena Ruvolo was randomly scrolling through house listings in the area, she did not intend to find a home that would immediately capture her attention.
“Since we already lived in the neighborhood, I was looking at new builds and what was on the market for sale,” Jena recalls. “When I saw this one, which was being built as a spec home, I just fell in love and tried to talk myself out of it! Eventually, however, I convinced my husband, Mike, to go see it in person. That didn’t help; we both loved it! After a few days, we finally decided it just felt like home to us and we made an offer.”
From there, the Ruvolos connected with Matt Tschetter, builder/owner of Luxury Homes of Northern Colorado, which is based in Fort Collins. The five-bedroom, five-bathroom house they both fell in love with was underway to becoming the Ruvolo’s new dream home.
“One thing that stands out about this house is the modern, Mediterranean-style interior courtyard,” says Tschetter. “It’s surrounded on all four sides, very private, and it has radiant heat flooring to assist with snow melt. It’s a space where family can relax, entertain, dine and enjoy spending time together all year. This is just one example of our detailed design work with unique features that makes our company different.”
Jena Ruvolo agrees. “The finishes are so beautiful with the style of the home; they are right in line with what we like. The courtyard is intriguing, and it was a big selling point for us. It’s a perfect spot for our kids to play. We did not know Matt when this process started, but we had a very pleasant experience working with him. He walked us through the entire home and was extremely detailed. He was quick to respond to our questions and requests.”
All of the features of this modern Mediterranean-inspired home were chosen to have impact and make an impression. The home’s 5,530 square feet showcases clean lines of contemporary design with an exquisite flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. The gourmet kitchen is efficient and a chef’s dream with custom cabinetry, quartz countertops and commercial-style appliances.
The fireplace and sound system in the centralized courtyard invite relaxation and provide the perfect background for parties and gatherings of family and friends. The sprawling open floor plan encompasses a main floor master suite with a luxurious five-piece master bath, including steam shower, that becomes a personal spa-like retreat.
The finished basement includes a chic wet bar, theater-like set up with surround sound and a glass-enclosed wine room. This home is the perfect balance of warmth, comfort and style.
For Tschetter, the home was an opportunity to demonstrate what he believes makes his work compelling and special in the industry. He says, “Establishing itself as one of Fort Collins’ premier custom home builders, Luxury Homes of Northern Colorado combines exceptional craftsmanship, sophisticated architectural plans, careful planning and oversight with inspiring interior design to build refined homes tailored for comfortable, luxury living. We only use qualified and experienced trades that are also owner-run, which creates accountability and pride to ensure high quality.”
“We care about every step and every detail of the homes we build. From materials to installation to operations.”
“We care about every step and every detail of the homes we build. From materials to installation to operations, I believe it’s critical, as the owner, to be right there, seeing what is happening. It makes a significant difference in how we connect with our clients, and the overall quality of the finished product.” As a local builder in Northern Colorado since 2004, they have crafted beautifully appointed homes in some of the most prominent neighborhoods in and around the Fort Collins area.
Luxury Homes of Northern Colorado is actively at work on a 14-lot parcel at Harmony Golf Club called Parkside. Three of four models are 75 percent complete and for sale. The three styles for these homes include Modern Craftsman, Modern Farmhouse and Modern Prairie. These, in addition to the Ruvolo home, reflect the quality and sophistication the neighborhood is known for, while bringing fresh design and sensibility to the next wave of development in the area.

For the Ruvolo family, they are enjoying the design their builder brought to their new living space. “We love the light in this home. It is so bright and it’s hard to be unhappy with this much natural light streaming in. And, the overall plan is ideal for our young family. We love the layout. The courtyard is fantastic and we couldn’t be happier with all of the finishes that were chosen. We really like the ‘modern Tuscan’ look and feel,” Jena Ruvolo says.
“We enjoy entertaining and the house is set up perfectly with the open floor plan flowing into the courtyard and the deck off the back,” she continues. “Also, our basement, with its areas for watching movies and gathering for parties, works really well for us. We are a busy family with very active kids. We have a lot going on and this home helps us to live comfortably and relax.”
Tschetter believes his clients’ homes should be a pleasure to live in; he acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of every professional involved with each home. “It’s all about enjoying what you do and the people around you.”
