The Fort Collins Symphony Presents Rare Performance

Under the direction of Maestro Wes Kenney, the Fort Collins Symphony continues the Platinum Season 70 with its Pure Gems

concert at 7:30 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Fort Collins Lincoln Center.

This evening of live music features a rare back-to-back performance of a Romantic era wife/husband composer duo.  The Symphony welcomes internationally-acclaimed pianist Sara Davis Buechner who will play Clara Wieck Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor and Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor.

Other works include Variations on a Theme by Joseph Haydn, composed by the Schumann’s dear friend and student, Johannes Brahms.  One of the greatest Romantic era composers, Brahms’ Variations combines some of his favorite themes and styles into one exceptional work.  And, Carl Maria von Weber’s overture from his 1802 opera, Peter Schmoll und seine Nachbarn.  This lighthearted and joyful piece was written when the composer was merely 15 years old.
