Happy Lucky’s Tea House Hosts Tea Club for Book Lovers

Happy Lucky’s Teahouse is hosting a very special Pu-er tea tasting event on February 27 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the Old Town teahouse.

Inspired by Lisa See’s novel, The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, Tea Club for Book Lovers is an opportunity to learn more about the history and making of Pu-er, the tea featured in this New York Times best seller.

The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane follows the life of Li-yan who rejects custom that requires her child born out of wedlock should be killed and instead abandons her — with a cake of Truly Simple Elegant Pu-er tucked in her blanket. The story explores the parallel lives of Li-yan and her daughter Haley, who was adopted by a California couple, as they search for meaning in the study Pu-er tea.

Five rare and sought-after Pu-er teas, including Sweet Clarity — it’s Truly Simple Elegant in the book— will be served at the event and guests will be offered a discount on loose leaf tea purchases.

Date & Time Feb.27, 6:30-8 p.m.

Location Old Town teahouse (236 Walnut Street)
