Tuana Hair Design is far from a run-of-the-mill salon. Large stand-alone oval mirrors, hairdryers suspended from the ceiling, and flavorful Turkish coffee served in silver cups on a silver tray create an immediate sense of individuality.
It’s all part of the vision of Kazim Tercan, Tuana’s Turkish-born owner, maestro coiffure and art director. Tercan spent three years studying hair design and two years as an apprentice, training with top European hairstylists such as Vidal Sassoon, Jacques Dessange, Saint Algue and Haute Couture Francis. He also spent years as a trainer and color educator for Wella, Schwarzkopf and L’Oreal. When he immigrated to the U.S. 20 years ago, Tercan had $100 in his pocket and European style on his mind.

Tuana Hair Design offers services rarely found elsewhere, including European color and highlight techniques, eyebrow and full-face threading, dry cutting, European hair extensions and Japanese straightening. Tuana also provides hair smoothing treatments, updos, men’s style and special occasions hair.
“We look at you and see a vision of what we can do, but it has to match your lifestyle and your hair texture,” Tercan says. “Many stylists do the same thing for everyone, but that’s not what we do. We make you look best by using what you have and what fits your needs.”
Tercan believes hair styling is an art form requiring specialized training. With that in mind, he opened the Tuana European Beauty Academy five years ago. Tuana’s stylists complete an extensive apprentice program and are trained to provide cut, color and highlights found in European styles. Tuana’s stylist levels, from Junior Coiffure to Maestro Coiffure, are based on years of technical experience, retention, proficiency and advanced training. As a Bumble & Bumble and Intercoiffure Network Salon, the stylists also travel to New York for advanced training.

Tuana has a number of awards under its belt, including Expertise’s BEST Hair Salons in Fort Collins 2017, Best Hair Salon 2015 / 2016 by Three Best Rated, and Voted #1 Hair Salon for Channel 7 Denver’s A-List in 2007. Tercan has appeared on Fox 31 and Channel E!, and in national publications such as Bloom Magazine and American Salon.
Additionally, Tuana is known for its charitable efforts on behalf of nonprofits such as Realities for Children, Animal House Rescue, Hope Lives, CASA, Safe House and Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation. In 2012, Tuana Hair Design took home the traveling “Hair Raiser of the Year” trophy for the fourth year in a row by collecting over 8,000 inches of hair for cancer patient wigs.
