CELEBRATING FOURTEEN YEARS OF MASKS IN OUR CREATIVE COMMUNITY

FORT COLLINS, CO–On April 6, the 2018 Eye Center of Northern Colorado/Kaiser Permanente Masks Benefit kicks off as the Masks Exhibition opens at the Museum of Art| Fort Collins during the Downtown First Friday Gallery Walk, 5:00-9:00 p.m. First Friday’s are free admission events made possible by funding from the Eye Center of Northern Colorado.

The benefit celebrates 14 years of Masks, the museum’s signature fund-raising campaign. With the focus on community and creativity, Masks is Fort Collins largest visual art event with an exhibition of over 215 masks designed by professional artists, student artists and artists of all ages.

Initially, masks leave the museum as simple, white ceramic forms and return transformed into works of art to be exhibited and sold in the museum’s silent auction. This in-gallery auction is but one part of the fundraising components of the project, which provides a portion of the museum’s annual budget.

Midway through the Masks exhibition, a gala celebration pays tribute to an individual selected as the Roz Spencer Award Recipient after the museum’s founder, Roz Spencer. This year’s Masks gala celebration, is being held April 27 at the Embassy Suites, Loveland. Tickets are available at moafc.org.

The 2018 Roz Spencer Award Recipients are Dr. Beverly Donnelley and Mr. Bill West. Both Bev and Bill have been involved with the museum in many capacities over the past two decades in addition to also serving only many other arts and charitable boards. Both Bev and Bill have dedicated countless hours to our community through their love of the arts and culture.

The 2018 Masks Benefit exhibition concludes May 6, during the Downtown Fort Collins First Friday Gallery Walk. The silent auction bidding closes at 9:00 p.m. when top bidders are awarded their masks-of-choice.
