A record-breaking 1,000 community members came to celebrate the 2018 Youth of the Year and Youths of the Months. The event also honored Kathi Wright, executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Larimer County (BGCLC) who retired after 18 years of service. A highlight of the event was an appearance by former Club kid Dr. Hector de Leon, BGCLC board member and Pediatric Department lead for Kaiser Permanente Colorado, who shared his personal story of how the club kept him from joining gangs as a child. The event raised more than $150,000 to support the BGCLC’s mission of providing a safe environment to help youth ages 6 to 18 reach their full potential. Photos courtesy of Joel Blocker Photography.
