Weld Food Bank Wins $25,000 from State Farm Neighborhood Assist

Weld Food Bank is pleased to announce that thanks to the incredible support of the community they won $25,000 from State Farm Neighborhood Assist! In just 10 days in August, 163,000 people cast over 4.4 million votes in support of their favorite causes. As a result, 40 communities, in 21 states, including Weld Food Bank will be getting an assist from State Farm.

The grant money will fund six months worth of Saturday food distributions. As a result of client requests, Weld Food Bank began distributing for 4 hours on the fourth Saturday of every month. One of the biggest requests from the community was to offer weekend hours as more working families struggle to make ends meet.

On average, 250 households, or 500 people receive food in just four short hours during the Saturday distributions. Furthermore, over half the people served during that time were visiting the food bank for the first and only time that month. “We are deeply appreciative to our  supporters who voted for us during this campaign, and to State Farm for making it all possible,” says Bob O’Connor, Chief Executive Officer of Weld Food Bank. “It truly shows that Weld County takes care of their own. Now with this money we can support and grow our Saturday distributions to reach more working families in need.” “State Farm is here to help life go right in neighborhoods all across the country,” said Tamara Pachl, State Farm spokesperson. “We look forward to seeing the impact this grant will have on the Weld County community. Our State Farm associates look forward to continuing their support of this organization though our Neighbor of Good efforts throughout the year.”
