Town of Timnath Celebrates Completion of Timnath Community Park

On Thursday, August 3, Timnath town manager, Aaron Adams, was joined by Mayor Mark Soukup, along with other city officials, staff, members of the Planning Commission and PROST (Park, Recreation, Open Space, Trails) Committee to celebrate the completion of Timnath Community Park, located at 5500 Summerfield Parkway. The park is the latest initiative to extend Timnath’s amenities to its growing population.

“We are excited to provide this new asset to the community that includes recreational options for all ages,” says Adams. “We believe this park will help residents engage with one another, while also improving the quality of living in Timnath.”

The commemorative event began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and speech from Mayor Mark Soukup. Council members and town staff participated in a fun, light-hearted competition of pickleball, and all attendees enjoyed delicious barbecue and snacks.

The third and final phase of the 25-acre park completes the Master Plan adopted in 2015, built by ECI Site Construction Management, Inc. with a $2,415,000 budget. The now fully realized park features new amenities including six pickleball courts, two tennis courts and a basketball court. A new splash pad and pavilion will open in the fall.

The park’s new features were selected based on feedback from a resident survey. The resident survey ranked splash pad, basketball court, pickleball court, tennis court and rentable pavilion as the top five most important. “Community feedback was essential in designing the park’s landscape,” says Adams. “We needed to make sure we knew what residents wanted and be able to deliver a space that would be enthusiastically welcomed by them. I think we achieved that.”

In addition to enjoying the park on their own, residents can expect to attend various events at the community park throughout the year.
