Chasing Light: 8th Annual Exhibit of the Northern Colorado Plein Air Artists
November 20 @ 12:00 am - November 30 @ 12:00 amFREE
It’s 25° along the Poudre River and a dozen goosedown-jacketed figures have been standing in the snow, barely moving, for the past three hours. Who would do such a thing? Why, members of the Northern Colorado Plein Air Artists, that’s who. Committed to painting the landscape in all weather — after all, “plein air,” the painting style of the French Impressionists, means painting in the “open air” — they meet every Friday throughout the year to paint, sun, rain or snow. Now’s the chance to see what they’ve been up to at their annual exhibit at the Carnegie Center for Creativity, 200 Mathews Street, Fort Collins.
The exhibit, which will showcase oil, pastel and watercolor paintings of 14 local plein air artists*, will be open to the public Wednesdays through Saturdays, 12 noon – 6 pm, November 20 – 30. The show’s opening reception, when the artists will be on hand to meet the public, will take place Friday, November 22, 5 – 8 pm. Throughout the exhibition, the artists will demonstrate painting techniques and their artwork will be available for sale. This event is free.
