ALTERNATIVES TO VIOLENCE GOES VIRTUAL FOR 4TH ANNUAL PURPLE RIBBON EVENT
April 8 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Alternatives to Violence (ATV) will be hosting its Annual Purple Ribbon Event virtually this year on Thursday, April 8, from Noon – 1pm. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to providing shelter, advocacy, education and resources for people impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. The event serves to raise awareness about these issues, as well as raise funds for ATV’s SafeHouse, programs and operations. Attendees can register for the event at https://atv-pre.eventbrite.com.
“We have been seeing an increase in calls from domestic abuse victims especially during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Executive Director of Alternative to Violence, Kari Clark. “Unfortunately, we had to cancel last year’s event, but we need this event more than ever to help keep our phone lines and doors open to help the increasing need. Although we can’t get together in person, we can still make an impact by coming together virtually.”
The Purple Ribbon Virtual Event will feature special guest speaker, Mildred D. Muhammad. Muhammad is the ex-wife of the D.C. sniper, John A. Muhammad, who went on a three-week rampage with the intent to ultimately find and kill her too. Muhammad will open up with personal details of her experience involving fear and abuse. She will share her expertise and challenges on what it’s like to be a victim and survivor of domestic violence “without physical scars.” Muhammad has made it her mission to be a vessel of support and healing to all those affected by domestic abuse and violence. She is an award-winning speaker, international expert speaker for the US Department of State, certified consultant with the Office on Victims of Crime and CNN contributor.
Individuals and companies are encouraged to be event Ambassadors or sponsors. Ambassadors assist by inviting guests to the event. The Purple Ribbon sponsorship is $1,000 and the Mission Sponsorship is $500. Sponsorship includes recognition on all promotions, plus the opportunity to be part of an essential team helping victims of violence right here in our community.
Those wishing to be an event Ambassador or sponsor should contact Executive Director, Kari Clark at (970) 669-5150 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
