Fort Collins Welcomes Aggies Football Club to Women’s Premier Soccer League

By: Staff

The Women’s Premier Soccer League officially welcomed Fort Collins-based Aggies Football Club as its newest member. With the announcement, Aggies FC will compete in the WPSL’s 2026 season kicking off nationwide May 4.

Aggies FC came to fruition through the help and guidance of longstanding members of the Fort Collins business and soccer communities, with the goal of providing a sustainable women’s soccer team around which the entire city can and will rally. The city’s rich local talent base will make up the heart of the inaugural squad, featuring former and current players from local youth clubs, collegiate and post-collegiate players with professional experience and aspirations. Player and technical staff announcements will be made in the weeks to come.

After years of behind-the-scenes planning, Aggies FC became a reality thanks to a first-of-its-kind partnership with Colorado State University, where the club will train and play its home matches at the new Women’s Soccer Complex. The partnership weaves longstanding traditions and history of CSU and the city of Fort Collins into Aggies FC culture with its colors and iconology, and will further promote and augment CSU’s burgeoning Women’s Soccer program.

All home matches will feature an interactive fan zone before and after the games featuring community outreach and vendor booths, games and activities for fans of all ages, along with a pitch-side beer garden featuring local breweries during the game. Post-match, fans are invited to celebrate with the team at sponsoring businesses.

“One of the chief founding principles of the club is community engagement,” Scott Westcoat, Aggies FC founder and chairman, says. “You’re not just going to see a soccer game, you’re going to a community event. Aggies FC home games will feature a different community theme promoting local groups, with proceeds of each match going directly back into the non-profit community. Going to an Aggies FC game will be a can’t-miss event for serious and casual soccer fans alike.”

Home and away matches will be streamed live on the Aggies FC YouTube page and through the league’s streaming platform.

Entering its 28th season, the WPSL is the world’s largest women’s soccer league and the longest-running national soccer league in North America, with more than 200 teams competing nationwide in 2026. Some of the game’s most iconic players honed their talents in the WPSL including Brandi Chastain, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Rose Lavelle and Catarina Macario. In 2025, more than 100 WPSL alumnae played professionally in leagues across the globe, dominated rosters in the 2025 NCAA Division I College Cup and MAC Hermann Trophy balloting.

Aggies FC will compete in the five-team Rockies Division featuring teams from the Front Range. The division winner will advance to the Mountain West Conference Final competing against teams from Utah and Arizona for a berth in the West Region Playoffs hosted this year by the NorCal Conference winner. The four region winners then advance to the WPSL Championships July 17-19. The 2024 WPSL Championships saw Sporting CT (Middletown, Conn.) top St. Croix Legacy (Stillwater, Minn.) and five-time WPSL champions California Storm (Davis, Calif.) to claim its first WPSL title.
