The Town of Berthoud and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) are teaming up to host an event that promotes pet licensing and creates a lively adoption and community experience. Dogs & Deputies will take place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on April 18 in Fickel Park, located at 620 Mountain Ave. in Berthoud.
There will be a large range of activities for attendees to participate in, including free puppy yoga*, basic dog training and a chance to meet some of the retired LCSO K9s. Larimer County deputies will be on hand, walking adoptable dogs around the park and providing a natural and engaging way for people to meet, greet and connect with dogs looking for their forever homes. For those who prefer felines over canines, there will be a Kitty Korner with adoptable cats.
Dogs & Deputies also allows Berthoud residents a simple way to register their pets at a discounted rate. Registering your pet locally helps ensure they get home quickly if they escape or get lost. In addition to licensing services, the event features veterinary booths and pet training resources. Berthoud Pet Supply will be on hand selling starter kits for those who choose to adopt a pet at the event.
“This event expands on last year’s popular Wags & Tags Fair held at the Berthoud Recreation Center,” says Theresa Morgan, lead code compliance specialist and event organizer. “Aside from it being a legal requirement in Berthoud, registering your pet drastically increases your chance of being reunited if they escape from your home or yard, and ultimately that’s the biggest benefit.”
If you are looking for a new best friend, would like to register your pet or want to spend a Saturday surrounded by loveable dogs and cats, Dogs & Deputies will have it all. Visit berthoud.org/dogsanddeputies for more information.
