Warm, Contemporary Haven

Mike and Shavonn Janes, owners of Solace Custom Homes and The Janes Group Real Estate, recently completed construction on a masterpiece located in Wildwing at 2647 Majestic View Drive, Timnath. This particular home happens to be their own personal residence that they share with their five children: Kirsten (19), Kaylee (14), twins Kaiden and Aili (11), and Acie (10). This big family wanted plenty of space to live, play and entertain in, and this home delivers.

As seasoned home builders and real estate agents, the Janes know quality when they see it and demand it in the properties that they build and represent. Their business is relatively new; they purchased the 1.06-acre lot where their new dwelling stands in summer 2019, after realizing the fantastic potential of the development in the booming Timnath area. “We broke ground in February of 2020,” Mike Janes says, “and then COVID hit. We managed to keep building, despite a short delay.”

In fact, the Janes had a record year, both with their real estate firm and their other business as restauranteurs and franchisees of Teriyaki Madness (in Johnstown and Greeley). “We founded our companies with a simple mission,” Mike Janes says. “We want to deliver the client experience we believe people deserve.”

Impressed with the Wildwing development, they intended to purchase more lots there. However, the lots were quickly sold, and the Janes instead bought lots in Heron Lakes, Berthoud, where they will be building two more homes (2091 Scottsdale Road and 2659 Heron Lakes Parkway). Additionally, the Janes are building custom homes in Breckenridge and Windsor.

Their home lives up to its street name, Majestic View Drive, by offering an outstanding vantage point to see vibrant sunrises and sunsets and picturesque mountain moments. The Janes moved from Marianna Butte in Loveland where they lived several years.

“We loved our neighborhood,” Shavonn Janes says, “but this was a great opportunity to move to a development where there are more kids for our children to connect with.” This, in addition to the perfect-sized lot for their 8,000-square-foot, modern-meets-traditional two-story home, made the Wildwing location ideal.

“We were very excited to procure one of the last one-acre lots,” Shavonn says. “It offers ample space for us and this larger home.”

When it comes to their design style, Mike says, “Our goal is to choose design that is timeless; we want things to look good in 10-20 years without the need for major renovation.” The Janes’ home features several exceptional amenities, including a walkout basement, workout room, home office, downstairs bar, six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, outdoor kitchen, deck, patio and an indoor basketball court that is adjacent to an area with two glass overhead doors that open up to the outside and offer seamless pass through between the court and another area for entertaining.

There is surround sound throughout the home’s interior as well as in the outdoor seating areas and a home theater. Additionally, the mud room features custom cabinetry, the floating stairs with black walnut treads are a standout, along with the stained and polished cement floor in the basement and the safe room (which may be used as a wine cellar).

The kitchen is packed with unique features, from the side-by-side, column fridge nestled into custom cabinetry, to the double oven range and additional microwave/oven combo, double island and the seven-foot galley sink with double faucets. “We wanted to make sure the kitchen wasn’t just cabinetry wall to wall. We wanted it to have visual appeal and functionality,” Shavonn says.

Their goals were achieved by working with Jon Rentfro of Rentfro Designs in Fort Collins and pairing his work with some of the Janes’ own personal ideas. “We used Pinterest and other sources of inspiration to create our idea boards and went from there,” she says. Sharis Ainslie at Park Place Interiors in Windsor also worked with the Janes family when selecting finishes such as flooring and tile.

Overall, the Janes’ home has a warm yet modern aesthetic with clean, straight lines and a contemporary approach. They wanted the home to look like their own, not a “cookie cutter” space. “Achieving a high impact look is more doable than people think,” Shavonn says, “and our home reflects our personal taste really well.”

The Janes family have found the Wildwing neighborhood one that’s easy to settle into and they were immediately welcomed by many neighbors upon moving to the development.

“We’re excited our kids can be out riding around the neighborhood on their scooters, spending time with many friends,” Mike says, “and we’ve been happy living here. It’s comfortable and the views can’t be beat.”
