Museum of Art | Fort Collins Opens Its Doors to Masks

With health and safety measures in place, the Museum of Art | Fort Collins will open its doors on June 17 for the public to view the final two weeks of its annual Masks Exhibition and Benefit. The exhibition closes June 28.

The 220 community art masks have been sheltering in place at MoA since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in March. Following County and City guidelines, the museum has developed a timed opening to allow up to 10 masked visitors per half hour to view and bid on the masks, which have been on display through an online auction for the last six weeks. There are also spots for walk-ins.

Those who want to preview and bid on the masks prior to a visit to MoA can sign up through the Masks online auction site (https://app.bidcoz.com/moafc/masks) and see a detailed view of the masks, photos, videos and a 360 virtual tour of the exhibition.

To visit MoA to see and bid on the masks in person, register through Sign Up Genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040f4aadae22abfc1-16th1. During the two-week period, the first hour (10 am-11am) will be reserved for seniors 65+ during the week and from 12 pm-1 pm on weekends. Gallery hours are 10 am-5 pm, Wed.-Fri. and 12 am-5pm, weekends. One of MoA’s title sponsors, Eye Center of Northern Colorado will sponsor a free admission weekend, June 27-28.

All patrons must wear a mask while in the museum.

“Now’s the chance for the public to see the beauty of all 220 masks at the museum,” Lisa Hatchadoorian, MoA executive director, says. It’s an opportunity to start your collection of Masks, created by Colorado artists, at a very reasonable cost for original art.”

This is the 16th year of the Masks Exhibition and Benefit. The annual exhibition is a crowd favorite that over the years has raised more than $1.6 million dollars to support the museum’s mission. During that time, Masks artists, most of whom live in Northern Colorado, have designed and donated more than 2,750 masks.
