Creating Masks for Healthcare Workers: Donations Needed

* A Message from Stephanie Carlson Founder and Designer of Stephanie Carlson Designs *
Hello my amazing community,
As most of you know I own a woman’s clothing line based here in Fort Collins, CO. As you all also know, this is a crazy time in  all of our lives. When I put myself through design school I worked overnights in the emergency room doing admin and registration and made many friends.
In the last few days I have been contacted by many of these people and they are in dire need of masks and scrub caps to help keep them protected. It’s a very scary scenario. They are the ones on the front line, the ones at most risk. I am in a position to help and want to. My own mother is an ICU nurse and one of my best friends is an emergency room nurse. I want them protected as much as they can be.
What I am in need of is as many donations as possible of elastic for the masks, (1/8” ideal, 1/16” and all other will be accepted) fabric, (100% Cotton and jersey knit cotton ie: what t-shirts are made of) and recommendations of seamstresses who would be able to donate time to help knock out as many as possible.
The demand is going up by the day and resources are dwindling. The places we can source fabric and elastic are rapidly closing down and if not, delivery times are stretching into months out. And the need is now. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. If nothing else could you forward this to someone you know that might be able to help?
My studio address is 220 Smith St in downtown Fort Collins. I will happily accept any donations there. Thank you in advance for any and all help. I hope you all are staying healthy and safe during this defining time in our lives.
Lots of love to you all!!
Stephanie
