Rodarte Community Center Commemorates 40th Anniversary with Neighborhood Celebration

The Rodarte Community Center celebrates a milestone this summer with their 40thAnniversary. The facility originally opened in January of 1979. The Rodarte Community Center has been a hub of activity for local residents and students with a multitude of programs to engage area youth and adults. The event will take place on Friday, July 12 from 5-11pm. The festivities will include facility tours and presentations, refreshments, family friendly activities provided by the new Play on the Waymobile recreation program, culminating with a Neighborhood Nights movie in Hoshiko Park. The building underwent major renovations in 2018, including a new front entry and reception area. Several programmatic changes have also recently been made including the implementation of a new software called Brightwheel. This software allows staff to track activities, incentives, academic progress and lesson plans.

The event schedule is as follows:

5-6pm              Tours, High Plains Library District literacy activities & library truck, music, food and beverages

6-7pm              Presentation by community members, guest speakers and Advisory Board

7-8:45pm        Bike tours along the Poudre Trail, boxing demonstration, face painting in Hoshiko Park

9pm                 Neighborhood Nights Movie – How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (PG)

During the event, local supporters will share the impact that the Rodarte Community Center has had over the last four decades, how the facility came to be, the success it has seen and the positive influence it has had with the community it serves.
