Father’s Day at Silver Grill: Free Old-Fashioned Shaves for Dad

Dads can step back in time on Father’s Day, June 16, on the Patio Lounge at Silver Grill Cafe in Old Town Fort Collins and get free old-fashioned shaves before or after they enjoy breakfast or lunch.

From 9 am – 1 pm, customers can get free shaves in antique barber chairs at the restaurant, 218 Walnut St., that will feature an old-style straight razor, shaving cream applied with a brush and steamed aroma towels. Two authentic barber chairs, one from 1930 and the other from 1960, will be used.

In addition, a special Father’s Day eggs benedict called “Crabby Daddy” will be available. It features a grilled English muffin topped with lemon marmalade, a bed of arugula, two fresh fried softshell crabs, and topped with homemade dill Hollandaise sauce.

The 86-year-old Silver Grill – Northern Colorado’s oldest restaurant – is a slice of the past and a tradition in Fort Collins for breakfast and lunch. Home-style cooking complemented with modern dishes, an old-style atmosphere and famous homemade giant cinnamon rolls are a draw for locals and tourists.

Palace Barber Shop – 100 Years Ago in Silver Grill Building

Ghosts of the iconic restaurant will be smiling about the Father’s Day shaves. Over 100 years ago, Palace Barber Shop occupied one of the five buildings that today make up Silver Grill.  Back in 1917, Palace Barbershop customers paid 15 cents for a shave.
