Celebrating Home and Community

When the weather gets warm, you will never find me indoors. Coming home to enjoy the sunset after a hard day’s work with a glass of chardonnay and my chaise lounge, with the sounds of our fountain and the dogs playing, is something I look forward to all year long. With this in mind, I hope you’ll read our feature (page 18) on patios and outdoor spaces and get ideas for your own home!

This is also the time of year for spring cleaning; Many of us have a few pieces of dated furniture that we don’t want to keep, but don’t want to send to the landfill either. In our article “What’s Old Is New Again,” (page 24) we talk to people who repurpose tired furniture and offer tips for you DIY’ers.

Springtime has also brought new opportunities to spend time with our NOCO family. Putting our focus on community, we were honored to attend the 2018 Realities For Children Charities Keeping Dreams Alive Awards Gala April 7 where NOCO Style received a Beyond Business Award. We are proud that the magazine has been a business member for more than ten years. We had a wonderful evening as Kristy Volesky and Craig Secher and their crew granted wishes and dreams to at-risk youth in our community. NOCO Style looks forward to contributing our time to these and other efforts.

It’s always a pleasure for us to spend time with the people in our community, and I want to thank the more than 200 guests who joined us for the NOCO Style exclusive presentation of “And Then There Were None.” What an amazing performance! I would also like to extend a big thank you to the OpenStage Theatre & Company for allowing us a private viewing, my wonderful staff for the tireless hours spent to produce this lovely event, and to Jill from Nothing Bundt Cakes for the tasty treats. You can see photos from this and other events in this issue’s About Town (page 71), as well as on our website.

This month’s featured contest is sponsored by Sather’s Leading Jewelers. In appreciation of all the moms out there, Sather’s will be donating a rose-gold necklace to the winner of the “Cutest Baby Contest.” Submit a picture of your baby for a chance to be voted the cutest baby in NOCO. Visit our Contests page at www.nocostyle.com for more information.

April’s contest featured throwback prom pictures. Harmony Skin & Wellness Clinic is donating a HydraFacial to the winner, which we’ll announce on our website this month. The March contest featuring favorite winter activities received 2,000 votes. The winner was Kate Stoupas with her dogsledding photo.

We hope that you enjoy this issue and look forward to seeing you around NOCO.

Happy reading,
